Top man in the world wins as Gay skips US 200m race as expected.

Usain Bolt cruised to a 20.25 win in Kingston; and a world away 31 year old Shawn Crawford blasted to the #1 slot in the USA for the 4th time; beating 3rd place Wallace Spearmon (24) and 2nd placer Charles Clark (21) ....

Age is no barrier it seems and giving a decade away didn't stop Crawford.

Tyson Gay had better get his mind and body into gear as he takes advantage of his "bye" to get stronger for Berlin though in the 200m his starting problems of late should be of less relevance.

Allyson Felix ran a 22.02 to take the US womens title and in Kingston Veronica Campbell-Brown nailed a 22.40 over the same distance.

Tyson Gay - what no dip 200m dip?

Tyson gay could have been faster over the 200m at the Reebok Grand Prix for sure and that has to worry Bolt; just a little ... watch the video:

3rd best ever for Tyson Gay at Reebok Grand Prix

Is Tyson Gay now back on form or is this just a blip after a stunning failure to live up to his potential and his poor effort at being an effective US relay team member in Beijing?

Fast is fast and a third fastest time ever is not to be ignored; let's hope he can avoid injury, keep his head clear and perhaps give Bolt a run for his money.

June is the big month for US track and 200m.com will be watching.

from USA Today: (more at the link)

Gay ran 19.58 seconds — the third-best time in history behind Usain Bolt's 19.30 at the 2008 Olympics and Michael Johnson's 19.32 at the '96 Games.

Gay will not run the June 7 Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Ore., and is unlikely to race before the June 25-28 U.S. Championships in Eugene, according to his agent, Mark Wetmore.

Wetmore said chances are 95% that Gay will run only the 100 at nationals. As defending champion in the 100 and 200, he gets a bye in both to the Aug. 15-23 world championships in Berlin.

Wetmore expects European meet organizers, including those representing the July 24-25 London Grand Prix, to bid for a Bolt-Gay showdown before worlds.
