Americans move up Bolt dominates

The Americans got some ground back in the 200m at last though that's not the story....

Usain Bolt is the first man ever to break world records when taking gold in both 100-and 200-metre races at a single Games.

19.30 seconds versus the old 200 record of 19.32 seconds set by Michael Johnson at the 1996 Atlanta Games.

With a world record in the 100 at 9.69 seconds he did slow down over the final 20 metres and really pulled up just before the line

So what if IOC president Jacques Rogge on Thursday didn't like it !

"That's not the way we perceive being a champion,'' Rogge said... what on earth is the man talking about.. he beat all contenders hands down; he had the 200m to come the relays to come and hes on the top of his game and on top of the world - he is entitled to do what he likes - it was his stage, his night and his moment in history .. an IOC official cannot and should not detract from that.

In fact until Jacques gets out there and nails a gold medal with a world record hes not even qualified to pass comment on how someone who does do that should behave.

"I have no problem with him doing a show,'' Rogge said.

"I think he should show more respect for his competitors and shake hands, give a tap on the shoulder to the other ones immediately after the finish and not make gestures like the one he made in the 100 metres. ...

"I understand the joy. He might have interpreted that in another way, but the way it was perceived was `Catch me if you can.' You don't do that. But he'll learn. He's still a young man.''

"catch me if you can" ...

....... that's 100 percent what its all about Jacques and they simply cant catch him...

... the Americans fumbling and poorly executed performance on the track was however saved in the 400 and partially the 200 but a major re-think of team play, selection, training and all aspects of the approach to track is needed if the Americans are to have a chance of doing anything useful in London or elsewhere as a team in the events they dominated for at least part of the "drug era"
